WhatsApp company is taking a small step to give users greater control over their privacy. But on the other hand, Facebook is hardly well-known for not respecting privacy.
Changing to privacy settings for groups now means that it is now possible at last to block people or avoid being added to a group chat that you are not interested in.
WhatsApp has pronounced that “we are introducing a new privacy setting and invite system to help you decide who can join you to groups”.

Announcing the change, here is how WhatsApp explains how to take advantage of the new option: Step To enable it this new functionality goes thus;
- Go to Settings in your app
- Then tap Account > Privacy > Groups
- Select one among these three options: “Nobody”, “My Contacts”, or “Everyone”.
Selecting the option “Nobody” means you’ll have to agree to joining every group to which you’re invited, on the other hand “My Contacts” means only users you have in your address book can add you to groups.
The new options are rolling out globally though, so you may not see them immediately.
